blog post 1.4

GOAL UPDATE

Last night I went over to my friends house. He is a hipster. according to Urban Dictionary Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter. The greatest concentrations of hipsters can be found living in the Williamsburg, Wicker Park, and Mission District neighborhoods of major cosmopolitan centers such as New York, Chicago, and San Francisco respectively. Although "hipsterism" is really a state of mind,it is also often intertwined with distinct fashion sensibilities. Hipsters reject the culturally-ignorant attitudes of mainstream consumers, and are often be seen wearing vintage and thrift store inspired fashions, tight-fitting jeans, old-school sneakers, and sometimes thick rimmed glasses. Both hipster men and women sport similar androgynous hair styles that include combinations of messy shag cuts and asymmetric side-swept bangs. Such styles are often associated with the work of creative stylists at urban salons, and are usually too "edgy" for the culturally-sheltered mainstream consumer. The "effortless cool" urban bohemian look of a hipster is exemplified in Urban Outfitters and American Apparel ads which cater towards the hipster demographic. Despite misconceptions based on their aesthetic tastes, hipsters tend to be well educated and often have liberal arts degrees, or degrees in maths and sciences, which also require certain creative analytical thinking abilities.

If you look at the picture at the very top that is my friend teaching me how to tread the needle. That is very important to sew. He then taught me how to on another piece of clothe. Its way easier than it looks. You just thread the needle back and forth until happy about it. Thats all it is to it. pretty simple.

CHECK OUT MY CITING; I DID IT IN APA FOR ONCE!

Last Blog post about Psychology for a while

After looking back over everything we have learned in the last class one thing sticks to me head more than any thing. That thing is motivation. I would love to write about how we learned about it but that is not the true topic about it. It is knowledge of motivation (339-372). This concept is really basic. Nothing is trying to trick to you, it just says it how it is. Motivation to me is the reason while you are doing something. If your hungry you will go to Shaw to get some of the best and healthiest food in the world (J.K. not that many organic options but I'm not that healthy even though I would like to think I’m going to be) to stop the need of hungriness. I know this doesn’t apply to motivation directly I do know that if you have no goals or priorities you will never be productive since there is no need in your mind to do those things. I like school. I'm really bad at school since its not the 1st priority in my life until about 3 weeks ago when I realized that school is the only thing that is going to get me any thing in life. Then it became a priority for me so then I started to fill that need to the work to do well in school. If I think about this term in a 3rd person point of view then it is easier for me to understand so then I go and do the work. The second thing that I want to really work on is prejudice(542-547). I do it all the time. I judge people with out even knowing them and then it helps burn bridges with that person when I talk to them. Coming off as jerk. Prejudice can't always be negative completely though. For example some people think Asians are good at math. Some times they are not though. Then it would probably not be good for those Asians because then they might feel bad that they are not good at math. Just thinking about it in 3rd person helps me more so then I can apply these concepts for the real world.

forgot to post this thang

BLOG POST 3-2 YEAH YEAH! ALL CAPS!

Hi there,

If you came looking for snowboarding just look below this post or above it. If your here to read about psychology then man you came to the right place. Today’s topic is prejudice. Prejudice to me is making up your mind about something with out even getting to know it or any thing about it. The thing about prejudice is that you make up false things about people. My friend had depression and I didn't believe him. I thought he was normal but I guess he had some internal stuff he had to work on with himself. The thing that bummed me out about it was when all over I think I made it worst since I thought he was joking for the longest time. I guess it was caused there all the stress and trauma he was having at home or something. I didn’t want to ask too much about it because it was his business but if he wants to share now I would sure listen now. The thing that concerns me the most is that people make up there minds about other people with out even getting to know them. I have burned so many bridges because this and I really don’t like the fact that I do this. I’m not even trying to burn that bridge but its something I really need to work on. The only real solutions I can think of is to be open minded and not judge any one. Its not like other people can tell other people to stuff judging people. It should be up to them to make that change in their lives. Its super hard to do too because with out even thinking people judge people on just by what they are wearing; not all but just some or maybe just me at least.

It’s like an anxiety disorder (Myers,pp. 461). Most people don’t know that anxiety disorder cause people to act unapproved ways that not normal to society. Every one has problems and that’s something everyone has to deal with. I’m just trying not to judge because that’s another problem that people shouldn't have to deal with.
